Scrapbooking with a CIS Printer

If your not familiar with CIS printers, CIS stands for Continuous Ink System. You usually see them in graphic design companies and large offices. Using this system you can buy printer ink in bulk cutting ink cost to a more managable levels.

As a lot of scrapbookers know deskjet ink prices are just horribly expensive. In fact in some printers ink cartidges acctually cost more than the printer, this is often true with HP and Lexmark printer.

As a scrapbook fan I usually stick to Epson printer due to price and the great quality of their ink. They simple do not run unless you dip your paper in water.

Epsons durabrite ink is simply perfect for scrapbooking projects or and even decoupage projects that need laquer coating.

I usually don't recommend CIS printers to non technical users but recently Epson has release a new productline which instegrates officially CIS into their printers calling them ink tank printers.

The whole process of refilling and using a CIS printer has now gotten easier and more reliable. Since CIS printers were unofficialy modified standard printer they were more difficult to refill.

epson l100

The release of the Epson L100 makes the whole process easier and can any scrapbooker hundreds of dollars worth of ink. In terms of quality the Epson L100 can produce the same quality as any standard Epson printer. But if you intend to print more pictures for your projects there are higher models with a more features and better picture printing.

Overall if you intent to save money on ink, these new type of printers are the way to go for any decoupage or scrapbook project you intend to produce in multiple copies.
